Memorial Day and Growing Babies

Todd and I decided to take the kids to see the Vietnam Veteran Moving Wall. It was at the Leavitt's Mortuary over the Memorial Weekend. It was very moving seeing all of the names of the men that sacrificed their lives for our freedom. I read about one young man, 19 years old, just graduated from Ogden High in 1958 that was killed standing guard just months after going to Vietnam. There were too many other stories like that one. I am grateful to live in a free country and also to have brave men and women who sacrifice for what we have today.

Four growing babies.
We think they are just about a week old by now. Mom and Dad are constantly feeding them. It is amazing to watch!!

Wow Connor, we have a lot of artists in the family. Too bad I didn't get any of that. What a fun way to celebrate Memorial Day, I didn't do one thing!
And... I didn't realize how short of time it takes for baby birds to hatch. Guess I forgot that fourth grade hatching experiment, or did that ever hatch???? Fun Stuff!!

I've seen the actual Veitnam wall in Washington DC. It was such a humbling experience - the wall was so long and in places three times my height - and the writing was so small with name after name. I had a hard time wrapping my mind around the shear number of individuals who gave up their life - and that was just Vietnam. I think that's GREAT that you took your kids to see the traveling wall.
